Moving Into and Out of Chicago Apartments and Towers

Most of an apartment move is paperwork and timing that has nothing to do with boxes. A building wants its insurance certificate before it will even open the dock. The service elevator is yours from nine until eleven, and a competing delivery has the afternoon. A River North tower routes everyone through one rear entrance off the alley. Forrester handles all of it directly, because we’re the crew on the carry rather than a desk arranging one for you.

What We Square Away

  • Your insurance certificate filed with the manager or HOA in advance
  • The elevator or dock window reserved before the truck arrives
  • Added movers and dollies when the building has no elevator
  • Cab walls, lobbies and tight Loop corridors padded out
  • Oversized furniture taken apart to slip through vintage doorframes

How We Run a Building Move

The certificate goes to your property manager and the elevator slot gets confirmed well before the date, and then the load is sequenced to match the exact window the building hands us. On site, the crew pads the route, protects the cab and the lobby, and puts your bed and furniture back together once everything is upstairs. Winter adds one more layer: runners stay down from the entrance through the elevator so melting snow never slicks the shared floors or wicks up into the bottoms of your cartons.

A Few Ground Rules

No elevator gets reserved until the building approves a window, and whatever the property bills for dock access or off-hours entry remains your line item. Anything loose and unboxed sits outside the guarantee, so seal it up yourself or let us pack it and the wrap is on us.

Pricing

A studio or one-bedroom is $395 flat and a two-bedroom $620. Stair-heavy units and long elevator waits run up the time, though, so for a fourth-floor walk-up the hourly rate of $150/hr for two movers can land lower; we’ll price it both ways and steer you to whichever saves money.

Reach us at (888) 711-4778 and the insurance certificate and elevator slot get handled for you.

What Chicago neighbors say

Allie R.
Allie R. Wicker Park · 1-bed apartment
★★★★★

No one prompted them to go the extra mile — it just came naturally. Carried everything down a narrow Wicker Park three-flat in single digits and kept smiling. Job flew by, nothing showed a mark, and I've already passed the number around.

Caitlin B. Albany Park · 1-bed apartment
★★★★★

Solid crew, no bother to have around the place, and easy on the furniture start to finish. The whole Albany Park load was done in just shy of two hours.

Carlos T. Cicero · 2-bed apartment
★★★★★

Run out to Cicero came off without a hitch. They worked steady, spoke Spanish with my folks, and pitched in on whatever I asked. Easy to recommend.

Service FAQs

What customers usually ask once a job like this is booked

My management office won't unlock the dock without a COI on file. Can you supply one?
Yes. Send over your property's insurance requirements and we email a Certificate of Insurance, named to the building wherever they ask, before move day. Most Loop and River North towers, plus a lot of Lakeview offices, won't release the freight elevator until it's filed.
Will you actually reserve the freight elevator for my window?
We coordinate the elevator or dock slot straight with your building so the crew isn't idling in the lobby on the clock. Just give us the time the office assigns you and the whole day gets built around it.
It's a third-floor Wicker Park walk-up with no elevator. How does that work?
We carry it up by hand and staff the job for it, bringing an extra mover and extra dollies so a vintage walk-up doesn't turn into an all-day grind. The stair count is priced before you sign, never tacked on afterward.
The doorways in my old graystone are narrow. Will the couch get stuck?
If a couch or bed won't make the turn, we take it apart, move it through, and put it back together in the new unit, padding each jamb on the way so nothing leaves a mark on the building's walls.
